I have been screwing around with the firewall rules and currently have these: Videostream Chrome, Core, Desktop Application, Desktop Port (without the 5556 their program installs), Mobile & Mobile Application all set to TCP ports 5556-5558 Plus Videostream Core & Desktop Application UDP all ports. (I got onto the UDP idea when somehow one time I installed version .040 rather than .036 - never been able to get that back again). I installed the desktop app with Win8 compatibility on everything. If I run the desktop app, it goes to localhost:5557 & stops. If I hit enter at that point /ui/ is added to the end and the program pops up. Or if I just run Chrome and go to localhostL5557/ui/, the same thing results. At first, it didn't see my media library but that started working when I changed rule Desktop Port 5556 to just Desktop Port. BUT - pairing does not work so the application is still not useable. @jonathan-sun This has not been fixed for me. Running windows 10, attempting to stream to a Sony Bravia, worked fine up until recently... now every 5 minutes odd.

new windows 10 build is out 10547.. and VideoStream is still working :)

update, fixed it. aplied new firewall rule; iptables -I INPUT -p udp -m udp --dport 32768:61000 -j ACCEPT wasn't nessesary before but videostream runs ok now.

Thanks @jonathan-sun, the native app fixed it for me too :D Also, thanks to the ~6 f*ing Canadians who make this AWESOME product basically for free (apart from subs). As a dev, I understand how much of a labour of love this kind of thing is. BIG love!

@pdario Hi, Win 1903, Chrome 76+. I solved the connection problem by using the tool VideostreamNetworkRepair.exe But, network must first be set to Private ! I didn't pay attention, mine was set to Public and the rules created by the tool in the firewall only applied to public network. After I manually changed it to Private, it works flawlessly. Kinda sounds like the machine cant transcode fast enough to stream, Ive learned this through watching cpu usage while streaming, it uses a lot more with avis than anything else, I normally just convert the offending avis with handbrake but i understand that isnt a viable option for everyone.

@fanllawf Same, I want to find a way to access subfolders too. What a coincidence I found this year old thread the day after you responded to it too! I've put a lot of effort into organizing my media library on my PC so its all neat and tidy, but that pretty much goes out the window for Videostream. I have "(2001) Cowboy Bebop" in ~Media Library\Movies\Anime. That clearly shows up in Videostream mobile as "Cowboy Bebop." Cool, it even removed the year for me, that's pretty helpful! But I also have the entire show in ~MediaLibrary\TV Shows\Anime under "Cowboy Bebop" with every episode neatly titled "Session x - 'Episode Name'" At first I thought it wasn't appearing in Videostream at all, because I couldn't find it. However, it is actually called "Session" in the videostream app... I wouldn't mind not having access to my folder organization if we could at least manually rename / organize them in the mobile or desktop app itself.

You could just have people vote for what they're interested in seeing, instead of what they are currently watching. Or, import a list from IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes or something. Then it's not tied to anything illegal or impinging on privacy or whatever. Just a list of shows and an ability to vote them up or down. Or, maybe we users could get together and start our own shared Pinterest Board. :)

Hi @ajpvs Solution!!! (FOR MAC and possibly PC) This may be a bit laborious but works! This also solves the 'Device Missing' issue with Chromecast Rollback your Chrome to version 49 or 50 as it is last 2 chrome updates causing the issue. here is the download site for Mac, Windows and Linux: http://www.slimjet.com/chrome/google-chrome-old-version.php then go to Terminal and copy and paste this command: cd ~/Library/Google sudo rm -R GoogleSoftwareUpdate Type in your Admin password to stop it auto updating. This means that until Google sort out Chrome and its numerous issues with Chromecast and Mac it will not update to version 52 which is where I started getting issues. As a sidenote, I found Casting with El Capitan was a pain so you can rollback to Yosemite if you desire.

An addional thought: I spent 35 years in IT developing database applications and we would NEVER allow a situation where software does not work without putting out meaningful and accessible diagnostics. What a concept......

Thanks to Mourgie and others, i found the file that freezes videostream. Its 9GB .M4V movie :) . If i try to launch him first, it's in status "loading" and if i'll not restart chrome, i can't stream any file. sorry for my English :)
