MICHIGAN'S LOCAL ONLINE CASINO INDUSTRY CONTINUES TO SHOW STRONG PERFORMANCE

With a total of 20.4 million in receipts, their revenue was also down 36.8 percent.
When it comes to which bookie is ranked first, it is FanDuel. Even if its revenue dropped by around 10% in April. FanDuel generated $7 million in revenue this month, accounting for 35% of the betting market.
Meanwhile, BetMGM and DraftKings saw a larger drop in revenue. BetMGM only managed to post about 63% of their March revenue in April. DraftKings was only able to report 56% of their March revenue for April.
Despite these figures, sports betting is expected to grow in the coming months. This is especially true as summer approaches and sports resume. Matt Schoch, an analyst for the gaming trade publication, discussed the state of Michigan's sports betting.
"Sportsbooks are in a generally healthy position heading into the typical summer slowdown," Schoch said, "especially given Michigan's pro teams haven't done much to curiosity interest."
"Tax revenue remains a concern, and significant growth in sports betting will most likely have to wait until football season." However, with the Olympics taking place this year and the NBA Finals taking place later than usual, sportsbooks can expect a busier-than-usual summer. "Ideally, this will also have a positive impact on tax revenue," he added.
Even if revenues for local bookmakers fell in April, Michigan became the state with the quickest total of $1 billion USD in online sports betting revenues. This put Michigan alongside states with large gambling revenues, such as New Jersey, Nevada, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, many expect BetMGM to lead the betting market due to the success of its online casinos. In March, the company increased its market share by more than 7%, and its gross revenue surpassed $30 million USD in April. This gives them nearly 40% of the overall online casino market in the state.

Other operators, such as FanDuel and DraftKings, each have at least a 16 percent market share. However, both saw a drop in revenue of approximately 15.5 million USD.
Overall, the online casino industry in Michigan only slightly decreased in April, with gross receipts of $94.9 million. This was not a bad drop, as total gross revenue was 95.1 million USD in March. Based on the April gain, the state earns $3.16 million USD per day from online casinos.
Jessica Welman, an analyst at PlayMichigan.com, believes that sports betting revenue in the state will take some time to catch up to what online casinos are already making. "Moreover, unlike sports, online casinos are not subject to the same seasonal waxing and waning," she added.
