Octopuses or Octopi?

Merriam-Webster had already discussed whether what is more appropriate or ideal word to use for the plural form of octopus. Actually, both terminologies are equally accepted and nobody would claim he or she is right and pinpoint who is incorrect. However, octopus has been one of the sea creatures that have been very unique. Other than the four pairs of arms, these creatures are bilaterally symmetric. These sea beings have a mouth as the center point of the arms and this mouth has a solid beak. Octopus has also two eyes. According to marine life scientists and researchers, like squids, octopus is one of the most intelligent amongst all invertebrates. These creatures had been part of human culture in terms of mythology and for food as well.

Knowing the Creature

In popular culture, octopus is known through its eight arms which bear a lot of suction cups. Most of these creatures do not have internal skeleton allowing them to clutch through small spaces or places. The sea or the ocean with coral reefs is considered to be their haven. They use their quickness, color changing ability and expel ink for defense. Marine experts tagged these sea creatures as venomous. Nonetheless, only one octopus species are considered to be lethal to humans (the blue-ringed octopus). In a larger scale, there are more or less 300 octopus kinds that have been recognized or recorded. This number has been considered to be one-third of the total ratio of cephalopod species.

The Eight-Armed Intelligence

The Black Swallower is also a very odd looking fish in deep sea. 'Chiasmodon niger' is a Binomial name of Black Swallower. The Black Swallower is found in hot tropical waters and it is up to 5000 feet deep. The Black Swallower is another quite little fish which grows to a length of about 25cm.

Chimaeras

A chimaera is one of the larger of deep sea fish. It can grow in excess of 150 cm long (1.5 meters). This fish is belongs to the same family as both sharks and rays. But it has a smooth skin beside with a spike having venom which it uses for defense.

Vampire Squid

The vampire squid is a small fish, this fish can be found around the world in tropical oceans. Its maximum length of 30cm and it is another fairly small animal. The Vampire Squid lives in very deep seas typically in excess of 700 m.

Viperfish

The viperfish is one of the mainly strange looking fish in the deep sea. It is also one of the most well-liked and well-known types. This fish can be found in both extremely deep depths and also found in more moderate, at depths around 100m. They are identified to vary in colour, while are usually black, silver or green.

Oarfish

Oarfish are large, deeply lengthened, pelagic Lampriform fishes comprising the small family Regalecidae. It is known as the world's highest Osteichthyes in existence. These teeth are hinged so that they can flattened down when prey is going in and stand up when resisting. They don't even need to actively swallow; the struggling prey just ratchets itself inside. With their glowing yellow eyes, the lizardfish is a wonder to behold.

Often called the nastiest fish in the ocean, the blind eel is next on our list. These fish are called blind eels because they have such small, ineffective eyes. Who needs eyes when you are living in almost complete darkness? They prey on live or dead fish which they locate through smell. They have circular mouths that they use to suck on their prey. They have tooth-studded tongues that allow them to cut through their victims flesh and literally eat them from the inside out. They are also sometimes called slime eels because their skin emits a sticky slime, up to a gallon at a time. It is used to suffocate predators by clogging their gills when they attempt to eat the eel.

The last of our unusual deep sea animals, giant squid, has been the subject of tall tales for centuries. Until recently, however, these tales were dismissed as fiction. The only information we have on them comes from finding pieces of their bodies in the stomachs of sperm whales, or those that have been washed up on shore. Another area where their existence is apparent is on the skin of sperm whales where giant sucker scars can be seen after what must be epic battles between the two huge creatures. Giant squid can grow to the size of a school bus or bigger. They are carnivorous and have a long, torpedo shaped body. At one end, surrounding a beak-like mouth strong enough to cut through steel cable, are five cda legion pairs of arms. One pair, thinner and longer than the rest, is used to catch food and bring it to the mouth. For a world who thinks they have seen it all, the deep, deep ocean still holds the hope for something new.

Okay so, not long ago I was reading a book; "Giant Squid: The Biology and Mythology of the World's Most Elusive Sea Creature," by Richard Ellis, which discusses how mythology of giant demon sea creatures and monsters most likely came from seaman who noticed large squid, but under the moonlight perhaps didn't actually know what they were seeing. Nevertheless, shore side they told their tales which grew larger and larger as time went on and drinks were had. Sure, and his hypothesis stands to reason.

Squid it turns out have large brains, good eyesight, and total command of their domain except for a very few predators, and they can be rather cannibalistic at times. They obviously, eat well, and enjoy their high protein diets which makes their large brains and that energy required uneventful. What can we learn from sea creatures which can help us to all we do better? Well, how about their ability to see underwater, and what if we borrowed some of their strategies and visual light ranges to do just that?

Yes, this is a worthy concept, and there is another book worthy of mention which takes this exact issue to a deeper level "Light and Life in the Sea," Edited by Peter J. Herring, Anthony K. Campbell, Michael Whitfield, Linda Maddock. This work discusses the blue-violet, blue, and blue-green light most commonly seen from deep sea creatures with bioluminescence abilities, generally their light falls between 430-530 nm in wavelength.

It thus, stands to reason that these creatures can also see in those regions of the spectrum and the predators hunt by the shadows cast and the reflections made. Meanwhile, potential prey can most likely see these spectrums providing they have evolved eyes for this ability, and use this as a warning to get away. What else can these deep sea sponsoring cda see, in what ranges, I ask? Well, I propose an experiment.

1.) Take a deep sea creature from the depths, put it in a pressurized container corresponding to that depth and leave it in near darkness. Next, take it to a lab, and flash various other frequencies of light, perhaps outside human visual range, infrared for instance. Observe what they do.

2.) Each time we see the sea creature react, put out some food for them.

3.) Take them back to their domain, flash that light, and see if they come for the same food after being trained. Try this on various sea creatures from the simplest to more complex.

Why? Well, we need to determine which light sources we should be using to accomplish various underwater endeavors for the future of human technology. We need to develop theories for energy usage, communication, surveillance, inspections, deep sea exploring, and use for off-world exploration. Please consider all this and think on it.

Begin with a new page with white background, art area size approx: 500x500 pixels.
Create a circular (using the ellipse select and holding shift in computer tool)
Put color or black (Drag and drop) into selection area.
You can clear region by eraser.
Create each curve as shown by drawing the curve, then stroking the path

Sketch: Using the guidelines, draw out your cartoon using the pencil. You can erase and edit if it went messy.
Draw curved outline for making round shaped objects (Face, eyes, mouth etc.)

In the "Anime" community, for most fans and followers, "Anime" is "Anime and "Cartoons" are "Cartoons". For them both of the things are really different from each other.

First of all, many people get confused between an Anime and a Cartoon, just because both are animated that doesn't mean that they both are same. There are so many differences in Anime and Cartoons. While both are caricatures that may be animated, anime usually has visually distinct features for characters. So, here I will now explain the difference between these two. Anime are Japanese animated production, that come in different formats like, television series such as dragon ball z, Naruto, one piece etc., animated short films, and full-length movies. But cartoons are two-dimensional illustrated visual art, non-realistic or semi-realistic drawings.

Anime characters have distinct facial and physical features that are very similar to reality, their big eyes and small mouth are created because of cuteness. On the other hand, cartoons physical features are very far from reality than anime. Anime characters also show different kinds of distinguishable facial expressions whereas cartoons don't.

Cartoons are generally made to make people laugh, so the genre mainly is comedy. But there are also many cartoons that are educational, teaching something good to mainly toddlers and kids in a fun, interactive way. For example, mickey mouse, Donald duck, bugs bunny etc.

Unlike cartoons, anime doesn't stick to only one or two genres. Anime shows and movies are all based on some kind of plot which continues through the entire series, for example, bleach, one piece, Naruto, etc. Anime is based on real-life issues or something that are closer to human emotions and have many more genres than cartoons such as, drama, school life, slice of life, romance, action, etc.

But if you look at both of them as separate entities, or as same, you won't be able to find a clear difference between the two, and that is why most of the people get confused between the two and end up calling anime and cartoons are same.

The first cartoon was said to be produced in 1499. It depicted the pope, holy Roman emperor, and the king of France and England playing the game of cards. However, Japanese animation began in the early 20's, when Japanese filmmakers were experimenting with different techniques. By 1930s, as an alternative to the live action industry, animation was established.

As cartoon are two-dimensional figures drawn and used in animations, as caricatures in newspapers, and books. If we were to define what Anime is then the general idea of some of the common and agreed upon notions would be "Japanese, animation, vivid designs, and hand-drawn" would be predominant buzzwords.

Today, Anime only seems to refer "animations only from Japan" to make it more understandable for people. After all this is human nature to like the things which are easily understandable and easily categorized.

To make the distinction clearer, let's take the example of the tom and jerry and dragon ball z. So, you may think what's the difference between the two when they both are animated and have good visuals, backgrounds, no game no life season 2 release date sound effects and even the animated drawings are nice.
